I'm experiencing this on hardy final alternate cdrom too. The debian
installer immediately stops when it tries to mount the cdrom. If I
switch to the console and try to mount the cdrom, if gives me the
"invalid argument" error.

On beta I was able to boot from the live environment, but was unable to
configure my LVM. Alternate is needed.

I'll check now to see if the hardy final live cdrom works, just to track
down the problem.
