Same problem for me. I've got a Desktop and a Notebook installed with
Hardy, both showing the described problem. Editing
/etc/dhcp3/dhclient.conf ("<hostname>") doesn't make any difference. My
setup differs a little bit from the above: I'm running Hardy with the
2.6.24-16-generic kernel. My router is a Fritzbox 7050, which is very
common in Germany.
