Now that you mention it, when I check dmesg output, I have exactly the same problem with pcspkr.
My motherboard also has a realtek 861 codec, but unfortunately the only option that enables me to get sound out of the speakers is 3stack-dig. I only have 2 outputs and spdif is shared with the headphones plug.
