Public bug reported: Binary package hint: mpd
Version info: uname -r: 2.6.24-16-generic pulseaudio Version: 0.9.10-1ubuntu1 mpd : Version: 0.13.1-3ubuntu1 After changing from Gutsy7.10 to Hardy8.04 (and thus changing to PulseAudio), MPD consumes far too many CPU resources when changing tracks. Symptoms are 20-30% CPU usage by `mpd' process when playing tracks. Steps to reproduce: 1) Kill all instances of MPD and any clients 2) Start the mpd server (e.g. sudo mpd) 2a) If no track is playing, issue `mpc play' command 3) Notice that MPD is consuming very few CPU resources, as in < 1% (this is good!) 4a) If you let MPD play for a while, changing tracks on its own, CPU usage will remain low (good) 4b) If you issue an `mpc next' command, or change tracks using any other client, CPU usage jumps to 20-30% and stays there (very bad!) Once CPU usage has jumped to 20-30%, it remains at this level, even after MPD changes to the next track on its own. Some accounts indicate issuing `mpc pause' and `mpc play' fixes the problem, however this has not worked for me. I have to do a full `mpc stop' and `mpc play' to correct the issue, or restart the mpd server. Note that this applies for all file types tested so far: flac, mp3, vorbis, m4a ** Affects: mpd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: cpu mpc resource -- MPD consumes 20-30% CPU after changing tracks https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/221951 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
