Dean, I'm not sure if you had chance to read my reply on the other post you've mentioned. Anyway, after I read your comment, I found that Realtek released the new version of RTL8111B/RTL8168B/RTL8111/RTL8168/RTL8111C ethernet card driver for Linux three days ago.
I think the new one maybe solves the problem as the one, released in January this year, solved the same problem, which occurred in Ubuntu 7.10. However, I haven't tested so it is just a guess.
