Public bug reported:

I had the Nvidia binary installed version of the nvidia driver installed
in Gutsy.

Now in Hardy I want to use the package nvidia-glx-new as it is of the
latest version (supporting my GF8800GT).

When removing the nvidia driver with the Nvidia binary installer and
then installing nvidia-glx-new X won't start. It says there is no valid
nvidia module present.

I think this is because the Nvidia binary installer left something in
the filesystem. I thin the nvidia-glx-new package should look for things
that could trash the installation and remove it.

Is threr any way I could manually remove all traces of the old nvidia
driver installation?

** Affects: linux-restricted-modules-2.6.24 (Ubuntu)
