Public bug reported: I had the Nvidia binary installed version of the nvidia driver installed in Gutsy.
Now in Hardy I want to use the package nvidia-glx-new as it is of the latest version (supporting my GF8800GT). When removing the nvidia driver with the Nvidia binary installer and then installing nvidia-glx-new X won't start. It says there is no valid nvidia module present. I think this is because the Nvidia binary installer left something in the filesystem. I thin the nvidia-glx-new package should look for things that could trash the installation and remove it. Is threr any way I could manually remove all traces of the old nvidia driver installation? ** Affects: linux-restricted-modules-2.6.24 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Hardy: Can't install and use nvidia-glx-new - only Nvidias binary installer works https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/221344 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
