Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better.
If I could trouble you for more additional information as to better find out
the cause of your bug and thus the possible fixes, please do provide the
following details:

1) The name of the media/movie player that you are using during the time
of this bug/crash?

2) Does the problem occur straight away as you try to open the video
file or only after some time? Does it usually happen at the same
location on the video file or after the period of time? (i.i. 5 mins, 10
mins into the video)

3) Does the problem still occur if your play the video in a window and
not full-screen?

4) Is there still activity from your system even while the screen is
"hung"? like is the audio is playing normally or harddisk activity is
still occurring?

5) Are you able to reset your GUI via the command key press of "Ctrl-
Alt-Backspace"?

6) The name/brand/model and specifications of the video card installed
in your P4 system? (ATI, Nvidia?)

7) Is this an upgrade or clean install of Ubuntu 8.04 Studio?

8) Can you provide in attachment the output of the command "tail
/var/log/kern.log"?

9) Can you provide in attachment the output of the command "tail dmesg"?

Thank you once again for your efforts.
