I don't expect this to be fixed anytime soon. Despite software fake RAID being on a majority of shipping motherboards, and despite dmraid being in a workable place with the correct kernel modifications, there just isn't any interest in adding this functionality to Ubuntu. Most responses consist of "well, use Linux software RAID." *shrug*
