A further update. I have connected a different monitor to my system (an older Dell 19" CRT D1226H) and it works fine. The xserver-xorg-video-nv detects it correctly and allows me to choose resolutions up to 1600x1200.

So it looks like my monitor has a dead EDID chip. This means that the portion of my bug report about the nv driver + GeForce4 Ti 4200 being unable to detect my monitor is incorrect. The other part about unidentified monitor not being able to be configured for larger screen resolutions remains. P.S. Interestingly, the nvidia proprietary driver also identifies the D1226H but can only drive it at up to 1024x768... -- 8.04 beta: GeForce4 Ti 4200 + Dell M993c = low resolution https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/208620 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
