Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: vmware-server

Description: Ubuntu 8.04
Release: 8.04
uname -a: Linux dagon 2.6.24-16-generic #1 SMP Thu Apr 10 13:23:42 UTC 2008
i686 GNU/Linux

See attached for output of `sudo dpkg --configure vmware-server`. It
also tries to configure vmware-server with every apt-get install done,
and fails then with the same behaviour.

I was successful in getting vmware-server to run by running `vmware-
config-network.pl` manually and setting that up by hand. However,
everytime I apt-get anything, dpkg reruns vmware-config-network.pl and
obliterates the settings.

I have two networking interfaces, eth0 (disconnected) and ath0
(connected). The network settings are not strange: I connect to a WEP
network with ath0 through NetworkManager.

I also had this problem on Feisty before upgrading.
