With the help of Mart Raudsepp from Gentoo, we have backported the libDDC patch to AMD 2.7.7.7 and called the result 2.7.7.8-0ubuntu1.
This one gets correctly detected inside LTSP too. Test packages are in my PPA. Just install them in the chroot (making sure to purge -amd and -geode first), then exit and run ltsp-update- image to test this. My guess is that something in X server core prevents automatic detection, possibly a list of known drivers from which X won't deviate. -- [HARDY] Koolu W.E.
