What I keep calling "bug" is in libgtk v2.12.9. I downgraded the hardy packages (libgtk2-dev, libgtk2.0-0, libgtk2-common) to the gutsy ones, which are v 2.12.0 and, apparently, the problem was solved (I could run Swiftweasel, at least). I still could not hear KDE notifications, and there was a problem in gobject, too. As I removed all the libg* libs in /usr/local/lib, I could immediately hear sounds and the gobject problem was vanished. I upgraded my packages again, and now everything works prefectly.
