Public bug reported:

hello, i have this bug in the...
beta ubuntu 8.04 amd64 desktop version
on a dell laptop inspirion 1720 core2duo 2GB sataHDD 200GB geforce8600gt
summary: NVIDIA gaphic drivers are not working, and NO WIFI connection either.

what i was expecting to see is the nvidia drivers and the broadcom drivers (for
my wifi) as it it is on the "restricted drivers manager" from ubuntu 7.10
but what i only see is the nvidia drivers to be dis/enabled (picture from beta
ubuntu 8.04)
and the curious thing is that after enabling it and it says it is enabled
whilst it is not in use ??? (i rebooted many times and it remains that
way)...see picture below
and of course it is absolutely not working since (for example) i cant use on
appearance preference / visual effect / "Extra"

im not sure if it is related to it too but the absence of the broadcom driver
on this panel seems to cause problems to my wifi connection ("nm-applet" near
the clock)
resulting in no possibilities to detect wireless connections

regards
