I really don't think we can leave 8.04 in its current state, there are far too many ALSA-using apps that people are going to wonder why they're not working while they have Rhythmbox paused or whatever.
Steve, Luke is suggesting that this should be fixed directly in alsalib. As I understood your comment, you meant that, for example, the ALSA configuration setting pulse to be the default device should be included in the /package/ alsa-lib. What did you mean?
