I have moved on. I did manage to find a work around from some suggestions on Linuxquestions.org. Then I got cocky and loaded up Kubuntu 8.04 beta.....it's definitely beta. It was fine for a while, but some the April updates blew it up. Currently have no GUI, boots up only in safe mode --ready only. So dpkg --configure -a ....won't work. Just about ready to punt back to 7.10.
