Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: grub-pc

Among other things, this breaks kernel upgrades!
If a removable disk is not plugged in when "update-grub" runs, you may get an
error like:

grub-probe: error: Cannot get the real path of `/dev/sdf'

To fix: manually run "grub-mkdevicemap" begore running "update-grub".
Should this perhaps be done automatically?

To reproduce: plug in a removable disk, run "grub-mkdevicemap". Now an
entry for the disk is added automatically to /boot/grub/device.map .
Now eject the disk so that the device is unloaded. Then run "grub-
update" en watch the error!

Does anyone know when grub-mkdevicemap is called normally? Only on
package installation? "dpkg-reconfigure grub-pc" does not trigger it
apparently, the reconfiguration is broken with the same error.

** Affects: grub2 (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
