ok, some more infos requested by Scott: My notebook is a ThinkPad R52 with a Mobility Radeon X300 graphics card. I'm running on i386 with the 2.6.24-16-generic kernel and a framebuffer console (vga=791). But the segfault also happens without framebuffer console.
