Adel, as a workaround please try installing compizconfig-settings-manager. Under general options, click the Opacity Settings tab (it's off to the right.) In the section labelled Window Opacities, add a new rule using New. Then you can set which applications (such as gnome-panel) that you want transparent, and how much.
