Open a terminal and run: cd ~ && wget http://utils.eurion.net/hosted/huaweiAktBbo-i386.out && sudo mv huaweiAktBbo-i386.out /usr/local/etc/huaweiAktBbo-i386.out && sudo chmod +x /usr/local/etc/huaweiAktBbo-i386.out && sudo cp /etc/wvdial.conf /etc/wvdial.conf.backup
2. Run gksudo gedit /etc/wvdial.conf (either in a terminal or in the window that pops up when you press Alt + F2; if you are on KDE replace "gedit" with "kate") and write there the following text (without the -------- lines): --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [Dialer Defaults] Phone = *99***1# Username = vodafone Password = vodafone Stupid Mode = 1 Dial Command = ATDT [Dialer hsdpa] Modem = /dev/ttyUSB0 BAUD = 460800 Init2 = ATZ Init3 = ATE0V1&D2&C1S0=0+IFC=2,2 ISDN = 0 Modem Type = Analog Modem Init5 = AT+CGDCONT=1, “IP”, “ac.vodafone.es” --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You will have to change the value of Username, Password, Init5 (and perhaps Phone, too), depending on what provider you use. For example, if you are with Movistar you will find the necessary stuff in the first comment in http://bloc.eurion.net/archives/2007/vodafone-mobile-connect- 3g-ubuntu/. 3.
