I see it with a Dell vostro and a 0c:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM94311MCG wlan mini-PCI (rev 01)
Loaded the restricted broadcom driver. I have eth0 (on board NIC), eth1 (renamed wlan0, has same config I gave to the old eth1 wireless config before I updated to hardy from 7.10) and wlan0_rename all of which are listed as "Wired" connects and will not allow for ESSID or KEYS to be added. Worked around it by editing /etc/network/interfaces Added wlan0_rename: iface wlan0_rename inet static address 192.168.200.14 netmask 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.200.1 wireless-key xxxxxxxxxx wireless-essid Damtek Used network-admin to de-select the other "wired" connections so they will not be activated. Init 1 or reboot, worked just fine. network- admin still shows connection as "wired". no way to "automatically" config the wireless. -- Hardware drivers show Broadcom B43 Wireless Driver in use, but wireless doesn't show in Network Manager https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/191408 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
