I am experiencing this as well under Hardy, Gnome. My machine is a Lenovo X61 tablet with the 1400x1050 resolution LCD being driven by the Intel X3100. Under Gutsy, the rotation worked except for the graphical glitches due to the bugs in the Intel driver. If any new information is needed I'll try and provide it.
