I can't really fix this. I understand the issue. However, if an old
kernel is able to leave the system in a broken state, then you have to
bring the system up in a way in which this does not cause a problem. In
this case, the user would have to either reboot clean (instead of
resume), or boot from CD and upgrade from there.

If you can repeat this lockedup hibernate.sh script (because of modprobe
thermal) on a fresh up-to-date edgy, then please reopen this bug. I'll
assume this is fixed in newer kernels.
