NOTE TO ALL: Please check whether you have this bug described here (repeating stops by itself), or whether it is bug #194214 you are experiencing instead (*endless* key repeats that "transfer" to other open applications and can only be stopped by X server reset, can probably be reproduced by holding down a key and lots of mouse activity). If you have bug #194214 (such as Derek and Dana Goyette), please look there for a patch that fixes the issue. If you have this bug instead, please try to upgrade your kernel to 2.6.24-2-386 or later ( https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/124406/comments/58 ), which seemed to have fixed the problem for some.
