I confirm I have the same problem: - Fn keys do change the brightness and a OSD with the new brightness is correctly displayed, but the slider in the gnome applet does not update accordingly
Moreover g-p-m ignores the gconf settings /apps/gnome-power- manager/backlight My backlight settings are: $ gconftool -a /apps/gnome-power-manager/backlight idle_dim_battery = true idle_brightness = 30 dpms_method_battery = default dpms_method_ac = default idle_dim_time = 10 brightness_battery = 10 enable = true idle_dim_ac = true brightness_ac = 90 battery_reduce = true but this happens if I unplug and re-plug the AC: signal sender=:1.14 -> dest=(null destination) path=/org/freedesktop/PowerManagement/Backlight; interface=org.freedesktop.PowerManagement.Backlight; member=BrightnessChanged uint32 20 signal sender=:1.14 -> dest=(null destination) path=/org/freedesktop/PowerManagement/Backlight; interface=org.freedesktop.PowerManagement.Backlight; member=BrightnessChanged uint32 100 It should have been 10 and 90, rather than 20 and 100.
