I have just tested this problem in the BETA version of Hardy.

I appears to me that this is some kind of conflict between the document
viewer that is built into/installed with Ubuntu by default (I think it
is the program called EVINCE) and the Adobe Acrobat Reader program.

Because, I tried printing the VDOT form 760 to a file before I installed
Adobe Acrobat Reader program for Linux version 8 and I could open that
print file and it had NO missing characters.  I then installed the
Acrobat Reader program and I then went back and again attempted to print
the VDOT form 760 and this time it IS missing characters.
