Public bug reported: Binary package hint: synaptic
I often select multiple packages for installation, as it is generally faster. However if one of the selected packages has a conflict, the entire selection is lost. It would be nice if after the conflict is noted, I could return to the list with the same things selected - I suppose excepting or marking the conflicting ones. An alternative would be to have another panel in the window, where the installation checks are performed in parallel while I continue to click additional packages. Then if a conflict occurs, these would stand out. Actually the additional panel would not be necessary, just run the check asynchronously and have a 'warning' icon in addition to the other checkbox icons, and a small panel that says, "Conflict(s) found for package(s) foo, bar, blah" Ubuntu version 8.04 development branch Thanks!
