This same thing happens with an avi file I have here. Nautilus and Totem say it is a "Microsoft Windows Media 9/MPEG-4 AAC audio" format. The audio is fine, but the video is very bad with green/purple blocky artifacts wherever there's movement on screen. It's the same when I use the gst-launch command you gave.
I've seen this kind of error before, but thought it was a mistake on the encoding end or something (you know, like too much compression in jpeg images). Turns out it is a totem bug after all then :/ totem 2.22.0-0ubuntu3 gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad 0.10.6-5 gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad-multiverse 0.10.6-1 gstreamer0.10-plugins-base 0.10.18-3 gstreamer0.10-plugins-base-apps 0.10.18-3 gstreamer0.10-plugins-good 0.10.7-3 gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly 0.10.7-3 gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly-multiverse 0.10.7-1 libgstreamer-plugins-base0.10-0 0.10.18-3 -- totem -stuttering/bad performance with mp4 video https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/144110 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
