luke16, you could try and have a look at bug #208306 "[ath_pci] cannot connect to hidden ap", if your chipset is Atheros (I've seem atheros and asus mentioned another place". Steffen has provided a patch that solves the hidden APs and Atheros problem for me, which is not in the main channels (yet ??).
