Binary package hint: xfce4-utils
The file /usr/share/xsessions/xfce4.desktop contains line
"exec=startxfce4", while it should really be starting xfce4-session.
startxfce4 is just a wrapper script for starting xorg -- but at the time
GDM runs, xorg is already running.
