I would like to confirm that I am having the same problem, and unlike Nico, changing the amarok.desktop file entry did not resolve the issue for me. I still get the playlist populating when I connect an ipod. It takes 5-10 minutes to load the playlist causing amarok to lock up for the first 30 seconds or so of this.
