Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager
When attempting to suspend or hibernate my Toshiba Tecra M2, the screen goes black for quite a while... but nothing happens. After about 20 seconds of inactivity (no CPU cycles or disk usage indicated by the front LEDs), I have to hold down the power button to do a cold reboot. After booting back up from an attempted hibernate, it doesn't remember anything. This happens when I select "Suspend" or "Hibernate" from the "Quit" button, or right-click menu on the power management tray icon. Below are messages taken from /var/log/messages after an unsuccessful suspend or hibernate: WHEN SUSPENDING: Oct 8 19:12:14 drphil gnome-power-manager: (caspian) Suspending computer because the DBUS method Suspend() was invoked Oct 8 19:12:18 drphil kernel: [17192303.488000] ACPI: PCI interrupt for device 0000:02:05.0 disabled Oct 8 19:12:18 drphil kernel: [17192303.652000] ACPI: PCI interrupt for device 0000:02:08.0 disabled << At this point, the computer freezes (and there are no more kernel messages) for about 10 minutes before I give a cold reboot >> WHEN HIBERNATING: Oct 8 22:40:12 drphil gnome-power-manager: (caspian) Hibernating computer because the DBUS method Hibernate() was invoked Oct 8 22:40:16 drphil kernel: [17184957.928000] ACPI: PCI interrupt for device 0000:02:05.0 disabled Oct 8 22:40:16 drphil kernel: [17184958.088000] ACPI: PCI interrupt for device 0000:02:08.0 disabled << At this point, the computer freezes (and there are no more kernel messages) for about 10 minutes before I give a cold reboot >> ** Affects: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Toshiba Tecra M2 Freezes instead of suspending/hibernating https://launchpad.net/bugs/64785 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
