The installation problem that I reported in November 2006 obviously was a hardware problem and not caused by Ubuntu 6.06 itself. By now, I'm running Ubuntu 7.10 in my daily private working environment very stable (and on the same computer as then). So, you can mark the reported bug as non-relevant. Again, thank you very much.
