Yep, definitely RAID-related. When I changed my root to /dev/hda1 (which is a member of my RAID), it booted fine.
I don't see a /dev/md0 devices and cat /proc/mdstat shows now RAID devices. I don't know what the deal with that is between kernels 2.6.20 and 2.6.22+. -- Kernel hang during boot, around IDE detection time.
