I have the same problem posted by Matias (Couldn't splashy_start_splashy(). Error -2) I'm using Ubuntu 8.04b. Looks like the problem has been reported long ago but has never been solved. See: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/splashy/+bug/113833
