** Description changed: Binary package hint: linux-image-generic I upgraded my laptop to hardy yesterday, the new kernel 2.6.24-12 does not boot up. Recovery mode reports this message: > clocksource tsc unstable (delta = -486972301 ns) My system is a Thinkpad x60 (Core 2 Duo, Intel Chipset), I am running the amd64 port of Ubuntu (the default version with Gnome). My selfmade kernel (2.6.24 vanilla) does not boot up as well (it worked in Gutsy). The old default kernel of Ubuntu Gutsy boots up. [Update] I have written down the magic number now. + + [Solved] + It turned out that the problem was a invalid initramfs. Running + > sudo update-initramfs -c -k 2.6.24-12-generic + solved the problem.
