I am having the same problem with Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon, Firefox 2.0.0.12, and IcedTea Java7 (and the plugin.) MacBook Pro Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2GHz 2GB 667MHz RAM nVidia GeForce 8600M GT (using nvidia-glx-new drivers) For every Java applet that I have ever come across, it shows up as a gray box. In the status bar at the bottom of Firefox, it starts out by saying: "starting applet..." and then goes to "Start: applet not initialized" I have tried several different repositories' versions of IcedTea, including Ubuntu's defaults, as well as http://people.ubuntu.com/~doko/ubuntu/ Thanks
