Andrew,
The best way to help would be to look at lirc cvs and identify which  
change in its history is the most likely solution.

On the other hand, if this is entirely broken for all people, I  
suppose we can just update this one module to cvs head provided it  
doesn't depend on any new functionality outside of its single source  
file.
