Changing to Invalid, because this cannot be dealt with in Ubuntu. Upstream is 
aware of the problem.
VMWare tools cannot be installed on systems running 2.6.24 kernel.

In the meantime you can try the vmware-any-any patches.

Warning: This includes some command line hackery and is not supported by Ubuntu 
or VMWare.

A workaround is to install the open-vm-tools from the Hardy repositories 
instead of the tools from VMware.
(They work besides some minor issues, which will hopefully be fixed until the 
release.)
