Confirm that this occurred in Gutsy and still occurs in Alpha 6. Also, there is a discrepancy between the gsynaptics error message, which asks if SHMConfig is set to "true" while the help.ubuntu.com directions on synaptics prescribes that it be set to "on". Either way gsynaptics cannot initialize.
