Public bug reported:

When, after a clean installation of the lastest Hardy alpha, one
launches gdmsetup, it doesn't start (although it does indicate in the
window list bar that it is launching) and gives this error message:
gdmsetup[16146]: CRITICAL: Error opening file: No such file or directory

It does this several times (about 20 in my case) and then in the end
crashes or at times launches. The end result is that it takes literally
minutes to launch or crash.

Starting it up the second time it runs fine though.
