This is a common problem. I see it with USB drive that I keep permanently connected, as do others. Here's a thread where many people are talking about experiencing this same problem: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=25104 This is definitely a bug. I first noticed it in Gutsy, but it may have been in Feisty as well. It's a definite annoyance.
