I have already installed scim-bridge-client-qt4 0.4.14-1ubuntu2

locale: en_NZ.UTF-8

I didn't do anything to activate chinese input support. The scim
keyboard automatically appears at the right side of the bottom toolbar.
For some applciations, such as konqueror, where "select IM" is
available, I just pick SCIM.

Here is the output of im-switch -l:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ im-switch -l

Many KDE4 applications (such as Kwrite and Kate) does not show the "select IM"
menu on right click, thus can't select and use scim
