I'm just confirming that it freeze. Some details I can provide: - Problem appears on an old version of parallels (it was still named "Parallels Workstation") and on current Parallels Desktop build 1922 RC2 without any difference. Host o.s. is OSX Tiger on a mac mini coreduo. - Kernel is 2.6.15-23-server as installed by dapper server i386 cd - removing initrd from grub doesn't change anything, so it should not be something related to loading/uncompressing/using the initrd. - Tried 64 - 1024Mb of ram with various intermediate steps (read people reporting problems with dapper desktop and lots of ram) - tried disabling everything I could in parallels (usb, floppy, cd) and various settings of vm acceleration (with and without Intel VT-x, off to high acceleration) - tried vm settings for linux-2.4, linux-2.6, generic linux, and even other OSes, nothing changes. - so the problem seems to happen between the kernel real mode loader and the 'real' kernel starting in protected mode...
I'll also install a gentoo system (no problems so far) to do some work. I'll use that to compile a kernel as similar as possible to ubuntu server to see if I can reproduce the problem. -- dapper 'server' release fails on parallels virtualisation, 'desktop' release is fine https://launchpad.net/bugs/51379 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
