I've been having these problems too.
The following configuration has improved my performance:
Option "AccelMethod" "EXA"
Option "ExaNoComposite" "false"
Option "MigrationHeuristic" "greedy"
I also tried the XAA method would made scrolling faster but I could not
get video playback.
My video card is:
(II) intel(0): Integrated Graphics Chipset: Intel(R) 945GM
(--) intel(0): Chipset: "945GM"
I have a Toshiba Satellite A105-4014
