I tried it, except I changed vbr-max-bitrate=192 to vbr-max-bitrate=256. The cd ripped just fine, but Amarok reports a bitrate of 128 for all the tracks. This is something that's definitley broken in g-streamer as is well documented in the ubuntu forums, it's definitly not fixed, I don't know how to fix it, and the bug guys just don't seem interested. This is very peculiar since variable bit rate encoding of mp3's is such an important function. Note that Amazon.com (which incidentally has recently released a linux version of it's downloader) encodes all it's DRM-free tracks with vbr avg bitrate 256. Did you check to see what bitrates your software is reporting for the cd's you ripped?
