Well, I can't see bug #135810 (the original of this dupe), so I'm commenting here: What's happening is that rdiff-backup is trying to write the metadata to a temporary file in regress.py::recreate_meta(meta_manager) ... but that temp file isn't being written correctly (or we don't think it is, which is a different problem). I'll have to investigate.
