@john : the easier way to test is to use my PPA https://help.ubuntu.com/7.10/add-applications/C/extra-repositories-adding.html . By the way it's on hardy , I didn't make those changes for gutsy. So you need to have hardy installed ( or to use a Virtual Machine - on VMware for instance) To rollback, you'll just have to do it in Synaptic and select the official version .
