It hasn't been an issue for some time, and I thought I had reported this
to the bug tracking site - sorry if I didn't get it input to the right
place on launchpad.

As I recall the issue manifested with Feisty. I had loaded the non-free codecs
from Medibuntu but still could not view DVDs. The first recommendation was to
load totem-xine instead of the gstreamer-based, which I did, but still to no
avail.
I had to load libdvdnav and one other library I can't remember right at the
moment (I'm at work, not in front of my Linux box - sorry again!)
Nonetheless once I got the proper libraries loaded I had full functionality
including menu navigation.

After doing a distro upgrade to Gutsy, DVDs continued to play normally.

I don't have a box loaded with Hardy yet, but have a spare notebook I
can load the latest alpha on. Right now I'm rather busy, but will be
happy to do a clean install of Hardy and report on my results. Would
that be helpful? I'm happy to do so if it will help the community.

Kindest regards,

Rob Mitchell
