Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: usplash
Desktop CD PPC shows usplash theme with no issues but the background
dissappearing while loading system. Just the progression bar is visible
after loading certain modules.
Installing from Desktop CD is not possible as Gparted does not allow a
botstrap Apple partition. -> installation from Alternate ppc CD.
Installing from Alternate PPC CD in either mode "install" or "install-
powerpc" produces the same result once system is installed:
1- Once yaboot selects linux as startup system there is no usplash theme as was
in the Desktop CD. The startup mode is text, but does not show all the loading
modules and the [ok] [fail] tags.
2- The screen remains black until GDM login screen appears.
3- Installation is just the standard install. No apps added, no config files
modified. I'm typing right now from the machine and have not added any app, nor
modified any config file.
4- Shutdown usplash does not show either while with Desktop CD PPC it did show
up.
