This is not an edgy upgrade, it is a long running feisty machine. Up to date
with feisty, feisty-updates, and feisty-security.
I haven't seen this before, but today it is there:

0 [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$gksu update-manager
warning: could not initiate dbus
# Click on "Check" for updates in update-manager, and the rest comes:
could not send the dbus Inhibit signal: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did
not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not
send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply
timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.
#the downloads continue, but then update-manager freezes (with the cursor
showing
that it is busy) for over 2 minutes, but no real action, until I kill it from
the command line:
closing the window with GUI doesn't work (also doesn't bring up "force quit"
dialogue.
Same after dbus restart, same after reboot.
